Question by Rachel: can I use a copyrighted image long as I list the copyright information and source?
I have a Spanish Portfolio project, and the cover design is supposed to be “presentable, creative, professional and have a Spanish-related design.” So I found a beautiful picture of a painting of a Spanish dancer, but it is in fact for sale, and the copyright information is printed in the bottom corner of the image. Can I still use it for the cover design, as long as I leave the copyright information intact, and list the website and that I don’t claim ownership on the back of the image?

As someone that works closely with artists that have had others infringe on their copyrights, I would ask for permission from the artist. I’m sure they won’t mind and they’ll appreciate you asking.
